Houthi militia commits 5000 abuses against women in Al-Jawf

The Iran-backed Houthi militia committed 5000 violations against women in Al-Jawf province from 2016 through 2018, Human Rights Office in the province revealed in a press conference on Sunday.

20 women were killed, 83 others wounded, 50 girls deprived from education and 40 women suffered psychological problems, the report affirmed.

The office’s teams monitored five thousand cases in which women were forced to displacement and re-location in the province. While the province have welcomed 25000 displaced families from across the country.

The report said the Houthi militia violated women rights in all levels, social, economy, health and education.

It pointed out that dozens of women were detained at militia checkpoints and prevented from transit because some of their relatives support legal government.

Human Right office called on the United Nations and International Community and Human Rights Organizations to intervene and stop such systematic violations, ensure protection for women and bring the  violators to justice for punishment.
