The Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Abu Elgheit has condemned Iran’s recognition of the Houthi’s self-styled government and hand over of the premises and assets of the Yemeni embassy in Tahran to the rebel militia.

This step “is an outrageous violation of the diplomatic conventions and an explicit breach of the UN charter, the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and the UN Security Resolutions mainly resolution no. 2216,” he said in a statement.

“This step shows the Iranian insistent aggressive attitude aimed at destabilizing Yemen and threatening its neighbors,” he said, affirming the Arab League’s support to the Yemeni government in whatever legal and political measures it takes to counter this Iranian conduct.
