Prime Minister receives chairman of OCHA

Prime Minister Ma’een Abdulmalik received Tuesday the Chairman of the Office of Coordinating Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Yemen and discussed with him coordination between the government and OCHA for alleviating suffering humanitarian catastrophe caused by Houthi militia.

In the meeting attended by Minister of Local Authority, the Head of the Supreme Relief Committee Abdularaqeeb Fatah, mechanism for facilitating access of needy people to aid assistances across Yemen was also discussed.

Prime Minister stressed necessity of improving humanitarian activities in Yemen and transferring into another phase of providing sources of income and enabling societies to be productive, pointing out that this requires joint planning and uniting priorities.

He pointed out that the government made the priorities of economic recovering and finding work opportunities and production and is ready to work with the UN to include these priorities in the humanitarian response plan 2020.

The Head of OCHA acquainted Prime Minister with the organization’s performance during 2019, praising government’s cooperation and facilitations it provided to accomplish many of humanitarian projects.

He also praised government performance in keeping economy and exchange prices stable in addition to paying salaries of government’s employees a matter helped in alleviating humanitarian crisis and banning more deterioration in difficult times the government faced since August.

He confirmed that the Response Humanitarian Plan 2020 is being made and there are wide discussions with different sectors in the government aiming at increasing international organizations’ activities and representation in liberated provinces.
