The Saudi mine action program “MASAM” extracted 852 Houthi-laid landmines in different parts of Yemen in the first week of this June.
In a statement, MASAM said they consist of two anti-personnel landmines, 150 anti-tank landmines and 700 UXOs.
MASAM said it has removed 168,155 as a total number of landmines since it started its mission of mine clearance in Yemen in May 2018.
The Iran-backed Houthi militants plant landmines including camouflaged ones in an indiscriminate manner in civilian areas including schools and evicted houses. Hundreds of Yemenis lost their lives or limbs in landmine explosions.
