A civilian was killed Sunday in an explosion of a landmine planted earlier by the Iran-backed Houthi militia in Al-Jawf Governorate, local sources said.

The explosive left behind by the rebel militiamen at the outskirts of Almotoon district and it went off when a citizen named Hamid Althib passed on it, the sources added.

“The blast killed him at once on the spot,” they said.

Hamid is the 21 victims of Houthi-laid mines and IEDs in the province as 20 were previously killed and injured since only last week.

The Iran-backed Houthi rebel militia has planted hundreds of thousands of landmines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in various areas of the province, led to killing and injury of large numbers of innocent civilians over the past years.
