Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Ahmed bin Mubarak, discussed with the Chairman Joint Committee for the redeployment in Hodeidah, Maj. Gen. Michael Perry the activity of the United Nations Mission to Support the Hodeidah Agreement and issues related to its tasks.
During the meeting, the focus was placed on the ongoing violations committed by the Houthis in Hodeidah Governorate.
This included their repeated acts of reinforcing their military presence in the governorate and conducting missile tests in the Red Sea from the ports of Hodeidah, Saleef, and Ras Issa.
Additionally, the meeting addressed the alarming increase in the number of victims affected by Houthi-planted mines in farms and residential areas, causing damage and harm to innocent civilians.
Moreover, he urged the United Nations to relocate the headquarters of its mission in support of the Hodeidah Agreement (UNMHA) to liberated areas or a neutral territory. This would prevent it from being influenced or compromised by the Houthis, who may use it for manipulation and coercion.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed the need for the mission to carry out its basic tasks in accordance with international resolutions and oblige Houthi militias to implement their obligations in accordance with the Stockholm Agreement, expressing the government’s readiness to overcome all the difficulties it faces.
