Leadership Council Urges Global Action for Peace in Yemen

Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, and his deputy Othman Mujalli recently had a meeting with Hans Grundberg, the United Nations Special Envoy. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the ongoing Yemeni political process being facilitated by the UN.
During the meeting, they reviewed the current situation in Yemen and the international efforts being made to achieve a comprehensive ceasefire agreement. These efforts aim to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people and revive the peace process with the guidance of national, regional, and international references.
The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council expressed the government’s openness to all initiatives that could help alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people, restoring state institutions, security and stability, and promoting development. They also reassured their support for the UN’s efforts and committed to providing all necessary facilities for the Special Envoy to fulfill his responsibilities as outlined in international resolutions, including Resolution 2216.
Moreover, the Chairman called upon the international community to increase pressure on the Houthi militia, urging them to actively engage in the ongoing peace efforts. This engagement is crucial to ensure that humanitarian benefits reach the citizens, including the payment of public employee salaries in areas under Houthi control.
