According to a human rights report released on Saturday, the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militia committed 99 cases of enforced disappearance against civilians in Ibb province between January and September 2025.
The report, titled “A Disappearance Without a Trace,” was issued by the Nobles Foundation for Rights and Development and announced at a special event in the city of Marib. It found that educational staff were the most targeted group, making up nearly two-thirds of the documented cases, with 67 teachers, inspectors, and education professionals disappeared.
The violations affected civilians across 18 out of the province’s 20 districts, occurring through various methods including home raids, forced entry, and luring victims under false official pretenses. The report confirms that enforced disappearance has become a systematic policy used by the militia to intimidate and subjugate the community.
The report called for the immediate release of all disappeared persons and the disclosure of their fate, urging the closure of secret prisons. It also demanded the international community pressure the Houthis and activate international accountability for those involved.
In his speech, the director of the Nobles Foundation, Mohammed Shahbeen, stated that the report relied on a triple-verification methodology to ensure information accuracy despite field challenges. He indicated that Ibb province is witnessing a dangerous escalation of Houthi violations, including raids on homes, places of worship, schools, universities, and banks, emphasizing that the province has become a model of civilian suffering in the absence of justice and the ignorance of international organizations.
