Member of the Presidential Leadership Council and Governor of Hadramout, Salem Al-Khanbashi has affirmed that justice will take its course against everyone involved in the violations suffered by the governorate and its people during the events of recent years.
This came during a press conference held Monday in the city of Mukalla, attended by the Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism in the caretaker government, Muammar al-Eryani, representatives of local, regional and international media outlets, a number of human rights and humanitarian organizations, and human rights activists.
The conference reviewed the file of violations and the UAE secret prisons in Hadramout.
The Governor of Hadramout welcomed Minister al-Eryani and the media delegation, reviewing the security conditions experienced by the governorate following the incursion of the forces of Aidarous al-Zubaidi with support from the United Arab Emirates, and the accompanying crimes and serious violations.
He pointed to the measures taken to expel those forces, normalize conditions, and end the Emirati tutelage that used the Arab Coalition to Support Legitimacy as a cover.
Al-Khanbashi expressed his regret over what was found inside Emirati bases and camps, particularly in the vicinity of Rayan International Airport, including equipment and materials unrelated to regular armies.
These included explosives, detonators, and dangerous components typically used by terrorist groups, in addition to the discovery of secret prisons at sites where those forces were stationed, he said.
The member of the Presidential Leadership Council reassured the international community that Hadramout in particular and Yemen in general are moving forward at a steady pace toward achieving security, stability, and development, and improving basic services, with the support of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
He praised the role of the Kingdom for approving a significant financial grant through the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen, from which Hadramout will receive a substantial share.
Al-Khanbashi affirmed the commitment of the local authority to provide all forms of care and support to victims and their families, and to support them legally, humanitarianly, and psychologically in a manner that ensures justice and restores their dignity, stressing that achieving justice for victims is a top priority.
“There will be no tolerance for any party or person proven to be involved in these violations, and the rights of the victims will remain protected until they are granted justice in accordance with the law,” he said.
For his part, the Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism in the caretaker government explained that the government will work to present all evidence and proof documenting the violations suffered by the people of Hadramout in particular and Yemen in general.
He called on media outlets and human rights organizations to visit the sites of violations and the secret prisons affiliated with the United Arab Emirates in Hadramout, and to observe the work of the Counter-Terrorism Unit that was trained under the supervision of the Coalition forces.
