Houthi war deprives 2 million children of education & destroys 3000 schools, minister says

Minister of Education Dr. Abdullah Lamls said that over two million Yemeni children being deprived of education in schools and 3,000 schools have been destroyed due to the Houthi militia war in Yemen

Speaking Thursday at the conclusion of the Arab Forum for Sustainable Development, the Minister stressed the government’s keenness to stabilize the educational process under the current circumstances.

He said that the Ministry continues to pay the salaries of more than 150,000 teachers, noting that the coup militia still refuses to send revenues to the central bank in the temporary capital of Aden, and to pay  teachers ‘ salaries in areas under their control.

The Minister called on the United Nations to support the education in Yemen, warning that children dropping out school put them at risk of being recruited by Houthi militia
