Defense Minister Meets Chinese Diplomatic and Military Officials to Boost Cooperation

The Defense Minister, Lt. Gen. Mohsen al-Daari, met today with Zhao Ch’ing, Chargé d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Yemen, and Colonel Liu Chao, the newly appointed Chinese Military Attaché.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in military and logistical fields, with a focus on expanding collaboration in military training, professional qualification, and the use of modern technology and techniques.

Lt. Gen. al-Daari welcomed Colonel Liu Chao, expressing confidence that his presence would contribute to enhancing defense ties between the two countries. He also emphasized the importance of improving Yemen’s naval capabilities, including the provision of necessary equipment, to secure the nation’s coasts and counter smuggling operations carried out by the Iran-backed Houthi militia.

For his part, the Chinese diplomat reaffirmed his country’s support for Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council and the government, underscoring China’s commitment to helping achieve stability in the country.
