Sixth Military Region seizes over a ton of Cannabis destined for Houthi militia in Al-Jawf

Units of the Sixth Military Region have siezed a large quantity of narcotics, including cannabis, destined for the Houthi militia in the eastern desert of Al-Jawf province.

The Region’s Commander, Major General Haikal Hantaf, confirmed that during an extensive security deployment campaign in the eastern Al-Jawf desert, forces seized approximately one ton of cannabis in multiple operations. He emphasized that these efforts are part of ongoing measures to combat smuggling and maintain security and stability in the region.

Major General Hantaf added that the military command continues to implement plans to cut off smuggling sources and apprehend anyone threatening citizen safety and stability in government-controlled provinces. He stressed the importance of protecting Yemen’s national security and that of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, noting that security is a shared national responsibility requiring cooperation between citizens, local authorities, and security agencies.

The confiscated materials were handed over to relevant authorities in the presence of ceremony Major General Khaled al-Ashwal, Head of War Operations, Major General Haikal Hantaf, Commander of the Sixth Military Region,  the region’s Military Prosecutor and several military and security leaders. They all praised the participating units for their successful efforts in tightening the grip on smugglers and their networks.
