His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) received today, Sunday, the Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Yemen NAKASHIMA Yochi.
They discussed Yemeni-Japanese cooperation relations and prospects to expand the bilateral partnership in the coming phase, especially in the areas of early recovery, energy, capacity rebuilding and infrastructure.
The President celebrated the remarkable development in Yemeni-Japanese relations, highly appreciated Japan’s significant role in supporting the development efforts in Yemen for decades.
He also deeply appreciated Japan’s supportive stances in support of the stability and unity of Yemen and the Japanese significant contribution to the humanitarian efforts to alleviate the humanitarian suffering.
The President expressed his hope that the partnership with Japan would move from the stage of humanitarian response to a broader stage of development, recover and reconstruction.
He also stated that he is looking forward to further promote the presence of Japanese companies and expertise in the future in infrastructure, energy, ports and technical education projects.
The Chairman of the PLC cited the latest developments in the Yemeni national arena, the course of government reforms, efforts to strengthen monetary stability, unify security and military decision-making, and improve basic services.
President al-Alimi also touched upon the Houthi threat to international navigation, describing them as an advanced Iranian arm to destabilize the security and stability of the region.
Al-Alimi asserted that the security of the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab is an international issue affecting the global economy, including Japanese commercial interests, noting that protecting the maritime corridors requires actual support for the Yemeni state and its legitimate institutions.
