Yemeni Government Condemns Houthi Attack on Saudi-Operated Vessel in Red Sea

The Yemeni government has condemned the terrorist attack carried out by the Iran-backed Houthi militias against a Saudi-operated commercial vessel in the Red Sea, saying the assault, which sparked a fire in the ship’s bow, underscores the group’s continued threat to international maritime security. No injuries were reported.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the government said the Houthis’ public claim of responsibility for attacks on civilian shipping and global energy supplies is further evidence of the militia’s terrorist character and its determination to destabilize regional and international security while deepening Yemen’s humanitarian crisis.

The statement said the latest attack also exposes the falsehood of the militia’s blockade narrative. It noted that official shipping records confirm the continued arrival of hundreds of vessels carrying food, fuel, construction materials, and other commercial cargo to ports under Houthi control, demonstrating that imports continue to flow normally.
