Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi has renewed his warning to the Houthi terrorist militias against continuing their escalation and gambling with the interests of the Yemeni people in pursuit of the Iranian regime’s agenda, stressing that the group’s destructive course will only further drain the country’s resources and will not alter Yemenis’ determination to end the coup and restore state institutions.
In a series of posts on X on Saturday, President al-Alimi said the Yemeni government would continue working closely with the Coalition to Support Legitimacy and its international partners to deter threats, safeguard international waterways, and combat terrorism, smuggling, and organized crime as part of its national responsibility and steadfast commitment to the security of Yemen and the region, and to international peace and security.
“The Houthi militias and their backers insist on dragging the country into successive crises whenever an opportunity for de-escalation emerges,” President al-Alimi said. “They ignore the fact that the Yemeni people’s aspirations for a state founded on dignity, security, and stability are not, and never will be, a bargaining chip.”
He added that the group’s continued escalation “will only prolong the suffering and squander what remains of the country’s resources,” reaffirming that the Yemeni people remain committed to restoring state institutions and extending their authority across the entire national territory.
“The militias have no option but to accept these realities,” the president said.
