Yemen’s Parliament Condemns Houthi Terrorist Attacks on International Shipping in Red Sea

The Parliament has strongly condemned the terrorist attacks carried out by the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militia against international shipping in the Red Sea, including the targeting of an Indian cargo vessel loaded with commercial goods that was en route to the Port of Mocha using an explosive-laden boat.
In a statement, the Parliament said it had followed with grave concern the dangerous terrorist escalation by the Iran-backed Houthi militia.
The statement noted that the militia targeted an Indian commercial cargo ship heading to the Port of Mocha with an explosive boat, causing the vessel to sink completely.
It described the attack as a continuation of an aggressive policy amounting to outright maritime piracy, a deliberate and repeated escalation, and a calculated provocation serving only Iran’s regional agenda, with no regard for the risks posed to Yemen, its citizens, or the wider region.
The Parliament reaffirmed its full solidarity with the friendly Republic of India and expressed its support for all efforts aimed at protecting ship crews and ensuring the safety and security of international maritime navigation.
“The militarization of the Red Sea and its transformation into a theater of conflict by the Houthi terrorist militia, along with its continued attacks on international shipping, are nothing more than a response to Iranian directives,” said the Parliament in its statement.
These actions demonstrate that the militia is no longer content with looting the resources of the Yemeni people, paralyzing state institutions, destroying the economy, displacing millions, taking lives, and subjecting Yemenis to years of killing, oppression, humiliation, and abuse.
The statement went on, it has now gone further by targeting commercial vessels, including ships carrying food supplies, in criminal behavior that reveals its disregard for the lives of Yemenis, deepens the country’s isolation, and imposes even harsher economic and humanitarian burdens on its citizens.
“The time has come for Yemen to restore its state, for its citizens to regain their dignity, and for this prolonged Houthi nightmare to come to an end. It is time to reconnect the present with the legacy of Yemen’s blessed revolution, which united the rifle and the pen and brought together all Yemenis in pursuit of national goals, ultimately defeating the obsolete Imamate,” said the statement.
The Parliament called on all Yemenis, including tribal leaders, national political forces, youth, women, and all advocates of freedom, to unite behind the armed forces and security services and support them in fulfilling their national duty to protect the Republic, safeguard Yemen’s sovereignty, restore state institutions, and end the coup that has brought nothing but destruction to the country.
“We have full confidence in the awareness of our great people, the courage of our armed forces and security services, the support of our brothers and friends, and the ability of our national institutions to overcome these challenges,” said the Parliament.
Yemen, which once triumphed in defense of the Republic, is capable today of achieving a decisive victory for the state and turning this painful chapter once and for all.
