President Rashad Mohammed al-Alimi, the Chairman of Presidential Leadership Council, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces held phone calls on Thursday with Council members Lieutenant General Abdulrahman al-Muharrami and Lieutenant General Mahmoud al-Subaihi and Prime Minister Dr. Shaya Zindani to check on their safety and that of government members following a Houthi missile and drone attack on the presidential Maashiq Palace in the interim capital, Aden.
Al-Alimi received an initial briefing on the attack’s impact and the response measures, directing relevant authorities to support the families of those killed and the injured, complete investigations, and strengthen security at state institutions.
He condemned the attack as part of the Houthis’ broader campaign against civilian infrastructure in Yemen and Saudi Arabia, warning that targeting the presidential and government headquarters underscored the group’s threat to regional security.
He ordered military and security agencies to protect state institutions and take lawful measures to counter the threat while safeguarding civilians.
The president also reviewed developments in Dawn of Yemen Oeperation with senior military commanders and the governors of Taiz and Lahj. Briefings cited more than 17,000 air and ground strikes against Houthi positions, gatherings, and military capabilities since the operation began, carried out by Yemeni forces with support from the Saudi-led coalition.
Al-Alimi praised the armed forces, other military formations, and popular resistance, while commending Saudi Arabia and the coalition for their support.
He also received updates on the humanitarian situation in Taiz and Lahj, including displacement, emergency relief needs, and efforts to maintain essential services and supply routes.
He further condemned reported forced recruitment, coercive mobilization and ideological indoctrination in areas of Taiz under Houthi control, stressing the state’s responsibility to protect citizens’ rights and hold those responsible for violations accountable under the law.
Al-Alimi reaffirmed that “Dawn of Yemen” or Fajr Al-Yemen Operation would continue toward its stated objectives of restoring state institutions and extending government authority across the country, including the capital, Sana’a.
He said the Houthis’ escalation reinforced the need to end their coup and ensure that the use of arms and force remains under state authority.
