Arab Coalition welcomes handingover of Hodeidah Port to a Neutral Party

SeptemberNet- The Arab Coalition for the support of legitimacy in Yemen welcomed the statements of the UN envoy to Yemen Ismael Ould Cheikh, in the Security Council, in which he called on Houthis militias to hand over the port of Hodeidah to a neutral party.
A statement issued by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said that, these statements confirm the previous claims of the coalition for the support of legitimacy in Yemen, which called for the United Nations to take responsibility for overseeing the port “to protect the Yemeni people from arms smuggling operations carried out by militias and the confiscation of humanitarian and medical assistance through the port”.
“The result reached by the UN envoy, which we have called and stressed the importance of taking early to protect the Yemeni people”.
the source said.
Ould Cheikh was expressed regret at the lack of participation of the militia in a meeting to discuss this proposal with the aim of using the port for the introduction of humanitarian materials and commercial products.
According to the source, the international envoy stressed in his briefing to the Security Council the importance of using customs and tax revenues from the port of Hodeidah to finance salaries and basic services instead of exploiting them for war or for personal benefits.
The Arab Coalition urged the international community “to force the coup party to implement all relevant international resolutions, especially resolution 2216”.
The source stressed the readiness of the coalition to support the relief efforts that will be made to ensure the flow of medical and food aid to the port of Hodeidah easily, and access to the people and humanitarian relief organizations in Yemen.
