Over 12494 HR violations made by Houthi-Saleh militias in Taiz

In Yemen’ third largest city of Taiz, thousands of civilians have been under Houthi-Saleh militias’ indiscriminate and deliberate artillery and rocket bombing almost every day. These militias have committed various kinds of endless violations against the city’s citizens such as killing, torturing abducting, assaulting medical staff and centers and occupying schools and hospitals and using them as military barracks and as weapons stores.

Houthi-Saleh militias have also been blocking convoys of humanitarian aid and relief consisting of urgent food and medical supplies as well as medicines from entering the city they besiege for three years. They have turned Taiz into a rubble as a result of their heavy shelling on the densely populated and residential neighborhoods, destroying all its beautiful historical and cultural sites.

Destruction and Looting downtown the city

According to multiple statistics, Houthi-Saleh insurgents’ war on the city has led to the destructions and looting of 1865 houses, 568 health facilities, 198 educational facilities, 128 governmental buildings, 227 private properties, the complete destruction of 139 houses and partial destruction of 1407 houses.

The militias have also occupied and turned to military barracks 90 houses, looted the content of 69 others and stormed 260 houses, In addition to bombing to ruble 15 houses.

Snipers and random shelling

From 24 April to early June 2015, the total number of dead civilian amounted to 339 cases among them 64 kids and 38 women, due to Houthi-Saleh militias’ snipers and bombing, while the number of seriously wounded reached 3530 cases, including 222 children and 112 women, according to Local Monitors Network, adding that more than 600 abductees.

Regarding the damages that inflict on the houses and premises, a total number of 567 homes sustained extensive damages, 48 schools,14 hotels, 8 hospitals, 554 shop markets, 20 Mosques and 3 cultural antique sites.

Hani Alaswad, rights activist, has confirmed that more than 484 cases of random shelling have been documented in a year alone, during which Houthi-Saleh militias fired 2231 mortar rounds into the highly populated and residential areas of the city, killing and wounding several civilians, including women and children. He added that the militia blasted with dynamite 18 houses, pointing out that, from 2-8 November 2015, the coup militias killed 51 innocent people including 12 children and five women, and wounded 94 others.

1231 civilian deaths in 2016

In 9 Jan, Yemeni Coalition for Humanitarian Relief reveal that Houthi-Saleh rebel militias’ snipers and shelling caused the deaths of 1231 civilians and wounds of 7000 others.

The coalition’s report added that Houthi-Saleh militias have destroyed during 2016 “more than 4000 houses, schools, public properties, Mosques and many vital buildings”, adding that ” the militias forcibly displaced more than 177 families, and affected badly over 300 others, in addition to the deaths of 60 people and execution of two abductees and incursion of health center and stealing its store.”

In April 2016, Yemen Center for Justice and Development said Houthi-Saleh militias killed 36 people, among them 9 children and 7 women, and wounded 224 others including 63 children and 33 women, one journalist and one paramedic, in April alone.

Anti-personnel Landmines

By the end of November 2016, RASD Organization’s Team say they have monitored and documented 222 civilian victims as result of Houthi-Saleh militias’ landmines, among them 100 dead, 24 kids, 9 women, and 155 wounded, 11 kids, 8 women, of whom 97 become disabled.
In March 20q6, Human Rights Watch said it investigated 5 cases of people who had been deformed by militias’ anti-personnel mines.
“The real number of victims of landmines planted by the militias is much higher,” doctors and Demining teams told “HRW”

In June, a doctor said: ” I have treated 50 Taizi people who sustained legs amputated due to landmines since April 2015. The militias also planted 30% of the area of al-Jahmila neighborhood in Taiz with mines and explosives.

Displacements of 9517 families under gun fire

From September 2015 to October 2017, Houthi-Saleh militias have displaced forcibly under gun fire a total number of 9517 families, 60 % of them women and 25 % children, rights reports and sources have recorded.
Moreover, statistics also reveal that 3000 families we’re displaced from al-Wazeyah district alone, west of the city, other 1285 families were departed forcibly from coastal district of Thobab, 989 families from portal city of Mocha, 603 families from Haifan and Rahedah districts, 625 families from Jabal Habashi, 3000 families from al-Selw and 15 families from Salah. Human Rights Organizations have recorded more than 800, 000 civilians in Taiz were displaced forcibly by Houthi-Saleh militias from their houses.

Crossing to Death

Over 311 Human Rights abuses have been committed by Houthi-Saleh coup militias against civilians at the crossing border of al-Dahi, west of the city, according to SAM Organization for Rights and Freedoms.

In a report themed “al-Dahi Crossing to Death”, the organization says it has documented 29 killing cases, 181 wounding cases, 93 assaulting cases, 25 abducting and torturing cases, 21 looting cases, 8 harassments and 19 cases of stealing personal contents from 25 March 2015 to 25 March 2016.

676 civilian casualties in a month

During November 2016, Humanitarian Relief Coalition in Taiz in an issued report said that 676 civilians fallen in the city, among them 172 deaths, 23 children, 6 women, while 504 others were injured, 130 children, 52 women, due the random shelling and snipers of Houthi-Saleh militias.

The coalition added that the militias caused displacement of ” 752 families under the power of gun fire,” saying that 65 houses were damaged over militias bombing, who detonated 9 others houses.

1180 violations in al-Shukb

From September 2015 to 2017, Houthi-Saleh insurgents commit over 1180 abuses in al-Shukb district: 36 killing cases, 4 children, 3 women, 133 wounding cases, 27 kids , 25 women, 27 abducting cases, 405 displacement cases, complete destruction of 17 cases, partial destruction of houses 213 cases, 94 forcibly displacement cases, destroying of 250 farms, 16 big water containers, looting 13 houses, torturing three cases, according to a report released by Development Humanitarian Rights Organization in the district, south of the city.

It added that, during Sep and Aug 2017 alone, Houthi-Saleh insurgent militias have ” fired 362 Katuysha rockets,1856 shells, 12 missiles and 184 mortar rounds into the residential areas of the district.
