VP meets with UK Minister of State for Middle East
Vice President (Lt Gen) Ali Mohssen Saleh met Saturday with the United Kingdom (UK) Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa Alistair Burt on the sideline of “Al-Manama Dialogue Summit 14” for Regional Security.
The meeting touched upon a range of topics and issues of common interest including cooperation and coordination between Yemen and the UK, UK supportive stances in supporting Yemen and legitimate leadership headed by President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
The Vice President pointed out to the rounds of peace consultations. He stated that the legitimate leadership has always been keen on establishing peace, restoring the state’s institutions and implementing the three terms of reference including the GGC Initiative, its executive mechanism, outcomes of National Dialogue and International Security Council resolution 2216, given that these are key approach to make permanent peace in Yemen.
(Lt Gen) Mohssen highlighted the Yemeni peoples unbearable suffering created by the Houthi militia’s coup and atrocities including killing, kidnapping, looting and assaults against the civilians, journalists and activists.
He stated that improving humanitarian situations, restoring the state and eliminating terrorism are top priorities for the legitimate government.
For his part, the British Minister reiterated the UK’s support for the legality, achieving peace and baking the UN envoy’s efforts to mitigate the economic crisis and alleviate Yemenis’ torment.
