Yemeni army has achieved on Friday a new ground progress, capturing a key road from the Houthi militia in the northern province of Sa’ada.

Brigadier Yasser al-Harethi, commander of Azal Axis Brigades said the army seized on Friday night the highway that connects Baqim district with the international Alap crossing during a large-scale attack.

The offensive, which targeted the militia and its positions in the east and north of Baqim from different directions, left scores of militiamen killed and injured, said al-Harethi, who is also the commander of the 102nd Special Forces Brigade.

“Among the dead militia are senior commanders, he said.

“The military also captured large quantity of weapons and ammunition left by the militia before they fled the battlefields.”

He explained that the army engineers have demined the liberated areas from mines and explosive devices laid by Houthi rebels.
