President Hadi receives UN’s envoy, urges prioritizing task
President of Republic Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi received on Thursday the UN’s Special Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths and Head of Redeployment Coordination Committee General Patrick Cammaert.
Topics relating to peace efforts and the progress realized were key focus of the discussions.
President Hadi reiterated the legitimate government’s commitment to peace in accordance with well known terms of reference including GCC’s Initiative, its executive mechanisms, outcomes of National Dialogue and UNSCRs namely 2216.
The President urged prioritizing tasks, action-plans and timing- line as a failure of Sweden’s Agreement will doom the whole peace process. He stated that internationally recognized government is committed to Sweden’s Agreement. “It is very important to comply with the agreement, quickly implementing its articles including observing cease-fire, militia’s withdrawal from Hodeidah, its seaports and delivering on prisoners, detainees exchange”, said Hadi.
President Hadi demanded the UN’s envoy to inform the International Community (IC) about shortcomings, the party which creates obstructions to peace efforts, undermines prospects of peace.
Mr Griffiths and General Cammaert expressed pleasure to meet the President, appreciating his supportive stances in supporting peace efforts.
General Cammaert cited practical steps he has made over the past, challenges he has faced, wishing to get rid of with arrival of international monitors to oversee the implementation of Stockholm’s Agreement.
Director of Republic Presidency Office Dr Abdullah al-Alimi was in attendance.
