PM, WHO Regional Director discuss Yemen’s health sector issues

Prime Minister Ma’een Abdulmalik and the WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean Ahmed Al Mandhari discussed a range of issues concerning the Yemeni health sector.
In a meeting in the temporary capital Aden on Monday they discussed the WHO’s support to Yemen and ways of enhancing it in various aspects.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the government is exerting great efforts to provide all the necessary treatment and preventive services to all citizens in different provinces, despite the difficult the challenges presented by the Houthi militia’s war.
He stressed that the government is committed to its national and moral responsibilities as it works to pay the salaries of doctors and all employees of health facilities in all provinces including those still under the control of the Houthi rebel militia.
For his part WHO Regional Director confirmed that the organization works continuously for serving health sector in Yemen and has a number of programs it plans to carry out like vaccination and combating infectious diseases
