National Commission for Investigation: 776 HR violations made by Houthi militia in 5 months

The National Commission for Investigation into Alleged Human Rights Violations revealed that it documented and investigated 776 abuses committed by Houthi militia from August 2018, to January 31, 2019.

The violations included killing 408  civilians -67 women and 89 children- and injuring 711 others including 95 children and 131 women.

The Commission released on Thursday its 6th annual report in the interim capital Aden during a press conference.

The Commission said it had investigated 51 cases of child recruitment and use of in hostilities and military operations by Houthi rebel militia.

It also investigated 44 cases of  planting anti- individual mines by Houthi militia. As result 52 persons were killed, including 4 women and 11 children, and 30 injured including 8 women and 4 children.

According to the report, the Commission monitored and investigated 5 cases of alleged abuse and damage to cultural and historical objects and property in a number of areas, 4 allegations of attacks on medical crews and facilities.

Of all the105 investigated cases of enforced displacement, Houthi militia is responsible for 980 case.

The report indicated that during the period in question, the Commission had monitored and investigated 84 cases of alleged extrajudicial killings in various governorates. It also documented 586 cases of alleged arbitrary arrest and enforced disappearance, and monitoring 17 cases of alleged torture and mistreatment, and 31 cases of bombing of houses by the coup militias.
