More than 6 thousand violations by the Houthi militia in AlShaqab area south of Taiz, Human rights report reveals

A human rights report revealed that the Houthi militia committed between September 9, 2015 until mid-March 2019 about 6234 violations against citizens in the area of ​​Al Shaqab, Almwadem district, in the south of Taiz city.

The Shaqab area has 10,000 inhabitants and it has been besieged by Houthi militia for four years.

The violations ranged from murder to injury, taking abductees as human shields, and targeting residential neighborhoods with all types of weapons, as well as planting mines inside villages and densely populated places.

In its report, the local Human Rights Watch in AlShaqab area documented 55 cases of extrajudicial killings, including 10 children and 8 women, while 227 were injured, including 52 children and 52 women.

According to the report, mines planted by the Houthi militia killed three civilians and injured 11 others, including four women with permanent disability.

The report also revealed 31 cases of abduction by the Houthi militia, including 4 cases of physical torture, as well as the forced displacement of 94 families from their homes in the Shaqab area, while the militia forced 600 families to flee.

The report pointed out that the physical damage to the homes and property of citizens in the region amounted to 713 cases, as a result of the launch of the Houthi militia about 3411 extruded on the area varied between Katyusha rockets and mortar shells and RPGs.
