Speaker of Parliament meets with UK Ambassador to Yemen
Speaker of Parliament Sultan al-Barakani along with Deputy Speakers Mohammed Ashdadi and Mohsen Basorrah met on Tuesday with British Ambassador to Yemen Michael Aron.
The session devoted to discuss the developments in Yemen including UN’s efforts aiming to implement Stockholm Agreement about Hodeidah.
Al-Barakani praised the UK’s significant role in supporting legality in Yemen and its contribution to the UN’s underway efforts to implement the UN-brokered agreement about Hodeidah.
The Speaker of Parliament touched upon the putschist Houthi militia’s atrocities and arbitrary measures against the members of Parliament who participated in the parliament extraordinary sessions in Sayoon.
The militia decided to confiscate the lawmakers’ private-owned properties in Sana’a, taking control over their houses, arresting their relatives.
Al-Barakani has made clear that the Houthi militia has never seriously acted for, this is clearly evidenced in refusing to implement Hodediah agreement. He stated that there is no point of talking about political settlement without implementing Hodeidah agreement.” It will be useless, even illogical to talk about political settlement before implementing Hodediah agreement, said al-Barakani.
