Information Minister, Muammar Al-Eryani said the government rejects the use of the Yemeni issue as a point of contention between the ruling and opposition parties in European countries.

Referring to the image of the ongoing conflict as one between Yemen and Saudi Arabia and the row among some European parties on this basis, Al-Eryani told a number of British labor MPs said that Iran and Hezbollah, both supporters of the Houthi militia, managed to mislead the public opinion in many European countries about the events in Yemen.

“They are summing up things as a Yemeni-Saudi conflict instead of (the truth that) an Iran-backed racist militia that claims divine right to government has mounted a coup and turned Yemen into a platform for attacking neighboring countries and threatening international shipping lanes،” he said.

He called upon the British parties to support “the choice of the Yemeni people who demand an end to the coup, restoration of the state institutions and building the federal Yemen” as per the historical national dialogue of 2013-2014.

“We call upon the international community to pressure Iran into ending support for the Houthi militia and to help restore the Yemeni state which was always a partner for the international community in fighting terrorism and protecting the international shipping lanes.”
