Prime Minister Dr. Ma’een Abdul-Malik contributed on Wednesday to high-profile strategic discussions held in Nairobi, Kenya within first session of the UN-Habitat Assembly.

Ma’een provided a brief presentation about the Yemeni government’s top priorities for urban development, reconstruction and economic recovery.

He cited Yemen’s experiment, the ongoing-armed conflict that wreaked havoc on several cities, the government’s policy to deal with this challenge.

He said, “In Yemen we have got a very rich cultural heritage dated several millenniums. While we are eagerly seeking to achieve urban development, we are very keen on preserving it. We allocate 20% of oil revenues for local development in the governorates which have actual agendas to develop their urban structures”.

The Prime Minister pointed out to the debates about the engaging the national and foreign private sector in carrying out the urban agendas and strategic projects in Yemen.
