Planning Minister calls on WB to open office in Aden

Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Najeeb al-Awj has called upon the World Bank to open an office in the temporary capital Aden.
In a meeting with a delegation from the World Bank Group including the bank’s Executive Director and Vice President for Middle East and North Africa here on Monday, al-Awj called on the bank to help in building the capacity of state institutions and supporting the private sector in line with the government’s policies and priorities.
The meeting discussed the government’s interest in absorbing the WB’s grants in transparency. It addressed the endeavor of the Public Works project and the Social Fund for Development to maintain their services for the public.
