Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammed al-Hadhrami said “What happened in the interim capital Aden by the Transitional Council is a coup against the legitimate state institutions, which the Coalition for supporting legitimacy came to regain and support after the Houthi coup in 2014.”
Al-Hadhrami added in a series of tweets on the official account of the Foreign Ministry that “The Republic of Yemen holds the Transitional Council and the United Arab Emirates the consequences of such coup against legitimacy in Aden.”
He also called on the United Arab Emirates to stop its financial support and withdraw its military support to these rebel groups against the state.
He confirmed that Arab coalition backing legitimacy came at the request of President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz for military intervention in Yemen after all possible means were exhausted and based on international law and the UN Charter to protect the Republic from the Iran-backed Houthi militia’s coup.”
