Yemeni government has welcomed Arab coalition’s call for the immediate withdrawal of the militias of the so-called Southern Transitional Council from positions they have seized in the temporary capital Aden during the past days.

In a statement to the Yemeni News Agency Saba, government spokesman Rajeh Badi welcomed the immediate ceasefire in the temporary capital Aden starting 1 a.m. on Sunday (2200 GMT on Saturday).

Badi reiterated government’s commitment to the ceasefire, called for Saturday evening by the Saudi-led Arab coalition backing the legitimacy in Yemen.

He welcomed also Saudi Arabia’s call to the government and all parties to hold an urgent meeting in the kingdom to address the coup mounted by the STC’s militias against the legitimate government and targeting state security, military and civilian institutions in the interim capital Aden.
