Yemen’s Defense Minister Lt. Gen. Mohammed Al-Mqdashi met Sunday with the new American Military Attaché to Yemen Lt. Col. Robert Tempkins.
Aspects of Yemeni-American military cooperation to counter terrorism and ultra-groups were discussed.
Latest developments in Aden, including escalation made by armed groups affiliated with the so-called Southern Transitional Council “STC” and their attacks on state institutions was key focus of General Al-Mqdashi’s conversations with Lt. Col. Tempkins.
Al-Mqdashi highly appreciated American friends’ support for legitimate leadership headed by the President, Field Marshal Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi—Commander-in-Chief.
He also paid tribute to the US position rejecting any coup attempts against the legitimate government and its unwavering stand to maintain Yemen’s security, stability and unity.
Al-Mqdashi stressed that illegal practices by STC undermine the government’s efforts to normalize the situation and provide services to citizens.
“STC coup grants radical groups the opportunity to re-establish، expand and it serves Houthi militias، Iran’s expansionist projects across its arms in the region”, he noted.
The Director Cabinet of the Defense Ministry Brig. Gen. Hussein Al-Hayal attended the meeting
