Defense Minister briefed on efforts of “MASAM” Project

Yemen’s Defense Minister, Lt. Gen. Mohammed Al-Mqdashi,   received Thursday the Director of Saudi Demining Project MASAM, Osama al-Qosaibi.

The Minister was briefed on activities of Saudi Project MASAM in clearing landmines and explosive devices laid by Houthi militia on public roads, schools and populated areas to target civilians in various Yemeni regions, in stark violation of international humanitarian laws.

He pointed out that the military engineering teams continue to dismantle the explosives planted by the Houthi militia in public roads, schools and institutions, and work to deal with the damage resulting from these crimes.

“Yemeni Armed Forces are committed to treaties and conventions on mines”, he added.

He praised the efforts exerted by the center to train and rehabilitate army’s engineering teams and mine experts.

Deputy Chief of Military Operations, Maj. Gen. Nasser Al-Theebani, and Director of the Military Engineering Department, Brig. Gen. Abdullah Al-Haidari attended the meeting.
