Israeli forces today morning shot and killed a Palestinian woman at Qalandia military checkpoint, located to the north of Jerusalem, said WAFA correspondent.
He said that Israeli forces deployed at the checkpoint opened fire at the woman, wounding her even though she did not pose an immediate threat as was obvious from video clips taken by Palestinians at the checkpoint at the time of the incident..
Palestinians said the woman, who apparently was shot in the leg, was left to bleed until she was later pronounced dead at an Israeli hospital.
The Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed later the death of the woman, who remained unidentified.
Israel claimed the woman attempted to stab soldiers at the checkpoint and therefore was shot. No injuries were reported though among soldiers.
Soldiers attacked Palestinians attempting to cross the checkpoint with pepper spray and closed down the checkpoint in both directions.
Many Palestinians were injured or killed in similar incidents under the pretext of alleged stabbing attempts.
