Minister of Local Administration—Chair of High Relief Committee (HRC)—Abduraqeeb Fatah commended the tireless efforts made by the team of WFP, WHO, UNICEF and UNHCR to provide the urgently needed relief aids to the population of Al-Duryhmi Hodeidah governorate in spite of obstacles and hindrances created by the Houthi insurgent militia to deny the team from access to the area.
In a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (SABA) Fatah said” Houthi rebellious militia had prevented Thursday, October 17 the UN’s team from entering into Al-Duryhmi for 8 hours, however the team did not give in rather they kept on trying, doing utmost efforts so that they finally managed to deliver the most needed humanitarian aids to the people in need at 4:00 afternoon”.
The Minister noted that the HRC kept on following up the delivery of the humanitarian aids to the population of Al-Duryhmi, strongly condemned the Houthi militia’s violations against the relief and humanitarian actions.
Fatah called on the UN Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs in Yemen Lise Grande to urgently act to explore necessary mechanisms that can ensure the delivery of relief aids to the people in need and stop such violations by Houthi militia.
