Foreign Minister Mohammed Al-Hadhrami and the resident representative of the UNICEF in Yemen Sara Beysolow Nyanti discussed efforts to prevent the recruitment of child soldiers by the Houthi rebel militia.
During their meeting in Riyadh on Monday, they also discussed the UNICEF’s activities in Yemen and the UNICEF’s contribution to alleviating the suffering of children and women; and the UNICEF’s plan to review the emergency cash transfer project in the country.
The Foreign Minister stressed the importance of cooperation between the UNICEF and the Yemeni government to facilitate the organization’s work and resolve all problems that might hinder with its work, stressing the imperative of transparency in the UNICEF’s interfacing with the Houthis in terms of rejecting the Houthi arm-twisting approaches.
The rebel militia obstruct the work of international agencies and make prohibitive demands from them as a way of reserving a means of influence on them.
