Houthi militia continues planting mines in civilian regions

Director of the Saudi Project for Mine Clearance MASAM’ in Yemen said that Iran-backed Houthi militia continue to plant landmines and explosive devices in civilian areas.
Speaking to September Net, Eng. Osama Al-Qusaibi said 78,000 landmines and explosive devices planted by Iran-backed Houthi militia in different regions have been removed and destroyed.
He added that 90 percent of those explosives were locally made or amended and some imported from Iran.
He noted that Houthi militia plant mines that disguised to look like children’s toys and that MASAM teams have pulled more than 4989 of such explosives.
He pointed that engineering teams have purged vital areas including populated areas, schools, farms and main roads totaling 12.694.128 square metres.
“By securing these areas, we have helped thousands of displaced people return back safely to their homes,” he said.
