Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, met with US Ambassador Steven H. on Monday to discuss various important topics concerning Yemen, regional affairs, and international developments.

During their meeting, they focused on strengthening the relationship between the US and Yemen, analyzing recent events at both local and global levels, and finding ways to align their positions on these matters.

Specifically, they addressed the damaging effects of Houthi attacks on ships and international trade routes, emphasizing the severe repercussions on Yemeni citizens, the economy, and neighboring regions.

Dr. al-Alimi expressed concerns about the Houthi’s human rights violations and their hindrance of peace efforts led by Saudi Arabia and the United Nations. They also discussed issues like delayed payment of salaries to public servants in Houthi-controlled areas, increasing military aggression in various regions, the prolonged blockade of Taiz, and the recruitment of child soldiers into extremist training camps.

Furthermore, they agreed on the crucial need to support the Yemeni government in implementing essential reforms in economic, financial, and administrative sectors. Ensuring the government’s authority in maintaining security and upholding the rule of law was highlighted as a top priority.
