During the meeting, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council expressed his and his colleagues’ appreciation for the leadership of the local authority and the directors of the executive offices for their efforts in overcoming the existing difficulties, especially since the oil facilities ceased to export due to the Houthi terrorist attacks, which caused the loss of about 70% of the state’s public resources.
President al-Alimi also extended his sincere gratitude to the people of Hadramout for their interaction and support for the local authority, as a model to be emulated for a society of coexistence and respect for the system and the law.
The Chairman of the Council presented the Council’s and the government’s efforts to overcome the consequences of the intertwined challenges and transform them into promising opportunities for self-reliance, and to optimally benefit from the support of our brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, and the donors.
In this context, the President referred to the generous developmental and humanitarian interventions in Hadhramout by the countries of the Coalition Supporting Legitimacy led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, alongside the service projects supported by the government and the local authority despite the financial crisis created by the Houthi terrorist militias with the support of the Iranian regime.
The President urged the leadership of the local authority to continue their broad partnerships with all political and societal forces and components, saying: “positive differences and diversity of opinions are a positive entry point for correcting work paths, activating oversight, and the rule of law.”
The President of the Presidential Leadership Council emphasized that security and stability are the main incentives for attracting investors, and that Hadhramout Governorate, with its loyal men, must make the private sector a real locomotive for the transformation towards comprehensive development.
“This goal will not be easy to achieve without activating the judiciary and law enforcement agencies to reassure national capital,” he added.
President al-Alimi urged the revenue offices to double their efforts to compensate for the deficit in the resources of the local authority, while adhering to the applicable laws at both the central and local levels.
During the meeting, member of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Abdullah al-Alimi spoke about the importance of the state leadership’s visits to Hadhramout Governorate, which deserves full attention as it has provided a model for stability, coexistence, openness and the preservation of state institutions.
He emphasized the importance of focusing on the priorities of providing services to citizens, strengthening state institutions, and urging the government and local authority to work on following up and implementing the matrix of service and public issues for the governorate, which the government has prepared, including service and investment needs and facilities for the private sector to attract capital, and securing the work of international organizations and humanitarian relief agencies.
“The alliance of the legitimate government is today in its best state and stands on a solid ground in the face of one opponent, which is the Houthi terrorist militias supported by the Iranian regime,” he said.
He emphasized the importance of overcoming any internal differences in the governorate, establishing the principles of transparency, integrity, and fighting corruption, accommodating everyone, and avoiding the exclusion of any political components within the framework of legitimacy.
He also stressed the need to strengthen the position and role of Hadhramaut, which is now governed and managed by its own people.
For his part, Othman Mujalli, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, praised the status that the Hadhramaut Governorate has etched in the national memory as a safe haven for thousands of displaced persons during the ongoing confrontation with the Houthi terrorist militias and their destructive project.
Mujalli referred to the model of the Hadhramaut society, which is based on family integration in accommodating the other, and not engaging in extremist and terrorist projects, and enhancing their presence in building the state and the national economy, and shielding their children against the misleading narratives of the Houthi terrorist militias.
He also stressed the importance of drawing inspiration from the virtues of the people of Hadhramaut in building state institutions and clean urban cities, and presenting their governorate as a model for security and peace.
Sheikh Othman Mujalli emphasized that the Presidential Leadership Council is fully aware of the intentions of the Houthi militias and their terrorist behaviors, and that the Council’s concern for de-escalation comes within the framework of giving the regional and international community an opportunity to revive the comprehensive and fair peace process in accordance with its declared references.
The President of the Leadership Council, members of the Council from the Governor of Hadhramaut and the Governorate’s deputies, members of the Executive Office, military and security leaders, and representatives of the business community and the women’s sector, listened to briefings on the general situation in the governorate, the efforts of the local authority in the security, service and development aspects, and the necessary support to alleviate the humanitarian suffering of citizens, foremost of which are radical solutions for the electricity sector and basic services.
