Security Committee in Mahrah Governorate Clarifies Clashes in Houf

September Net – The Security Committee in Mahrah Governorate reported that authorities at the Sarfit border crossing arrested Mohammed Ahmed Ali al-Zayidi, a senior Houthi figure holding a diplomatic passport, as he attempted to cross into Oman on July 7, 2025.

At the time of his arrest, a vehicle carrying armed militants linked to him was spotted near the crossing, prompting heightened security measures. A military unit dispatched from Ghayda to support operations was ambushed in Damqout, resulting in the death of Colonel Abdullah Zaid and injuries to two others.

Security forces continue to pursue the attackers. Al-Zayidi remains in custody, awaiting legal procedures. The committee praised the efforts and sacrifices of security personnel and extended condolences to the fallen officer’s family.
