Member of the Presidential Leadership Council and Governor of Hadramout, Salem Ahmed Al-Khanbashi, was briefed on Saturday in Mukalla on preparations for a national conference aimed at strengthening cooperation between the government and local authorities, alongside efforts to ensure fuel supplies for airports and local markets across the governorate.

During a meeting with Moeen Mahmoud, attended by Hassan Salem Al-Jailani, Al-Khanbashi reviewed arrangements for the preparatory workshop for the national conference on enhancing partnership and integration between the government and local authorities.

The workshop is being organized by the Ministry of Local Administration in cooperation with Political Development Forum and Berghof Foundation under a project aimed at strengthening local authority capacities and supporting stability.

The meeting discussed the workshop’s key themes, including unifying visions between central and local authorities, improving coordination and joint planning, and directing resources toward priority development needs to enhance public services and institutional performance.

Al-Khanbashi stressed the importance of the workshop, saying effective integration between the government and local authorities is a key foundation for sustainable development, stronger public institutions, and greater trust in state services.

He added that Hadramout places significant importance on initiatives that aim to improve local governance and build institutional partnerships based on transparency, helping create better opportunities for attracting support from development partners and donors.

In a separate meeting, Al-Khanbashi received a briefing from Saeed Al-Daini on efforts to supply airports with aviation fuel to ensure the smooth transport of pilgrims during the Hajj season and maintain regular flight schedules.

He was also briefed on the fuel supply plan for airports in Aden, Al-Mahra, and Seiyun, as well as coordination efforts to guarantee uninterrupted fuel deliveries.

The meeting further reviewed the supply of petroleum products to local markets in Hadramout and the logistical and regional factors that have caused shortages in some districts. Discussions also covered proposed measures to stabilize supplies and ensure regular distribution across the governorate.

Al-Khanbashi praised the efforts of the leadership of the Yemen Oil Company’s Hadramout Coast branch and called for stronger coordination and swift action to ensure stable fuel supplies for airports and local markets alike.
