President al-Alimi Praises Cooperation Programs with China on the 70th Anniversary of Yemeni-Chinese Fruitful Relations

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) received today, Sunday, the Chargé d’ Affaires of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Yemen Shao Cheng.

The talks covered the Yemeni-Chinese bilateral relations and cooperation in economic, security, and humanitarian fields.

The President confirmed his pride in the 70-year history of Yemeni-Chinese relations, noting that these relations between the two friendly peoples extend to a long history beyond their modern political roots.

The Chairman of the PLC greatly valued China’s firm positions in supporting Yemen’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity. He asserted that Yemen, due to its strategic location, is an important partner within the Belt and Road Initiative.
Yemen’s stability is not just a Yemeni interest but also a direct interest for China and for global trade and energy security, he stressed.
The President also highlighted the recent development cooperation agreement between the two countries, expressing his aspiration to expand cooperation in the fields of ports, renewable energy, infrastructure, communications and human capacity development.

Al-Alimi emphasized that investing in the Yemeni state and its legitimate institutions is the most sustainable and secure investment for the future of the region and international trade.

In this context, he underlined the serious security threat posed by the Houthi terrorist militias, considering them part of a cross-border regional Iranian network.

The Chairman of the PLC reiterated Yemen’s firm commitment to the One-China principle, supporting China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He also asserted Yemen’s aspiration for a greater Chinese role in the stage of recovery and reconstruction, as well as benefiting from Chinese expertise.
