Yemen, Arab and Muslim Nations Reject Somaliland Move to Establish Mission in Occupied Jerusalem

Yemen and several Arab and Muslim countries have denounced the announcement by the self-declared Somaliland region regarding the opening of what was described as a diplomatic mission in occupied Jerusalem, calling the move unlawful and a clear breach of international law and relevant UN resolutions governing the status of the city.

In a joint position, the foreign ministers of Yemen, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Turkey, Pakistan, Indonesia, Djibouti, Somalia, Palestine, Oman, Sudan, Lebanon and Mauritania expressed firm opposition to any unilateral measures seeking to legitimize arrangements or entities that contradict international legitimacy and established legal frameworks concerning occupied Jerusalem.

The ministers stressed that East Jerusalem remains occupied Palestinian territory since 1967 and affirmed that any attempts to alter its historical or legal character are considered invalid and without legal standing under international law.

They further reiterated their unwavering support for the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, while rejecting any unilateral actions that could undermine Somalia’s national unity or compromise its sovereignty.
