The Saudi Project for Landmine Clearance in Yemen, “Masam,” announced that its teams removed 1,207 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices across Yemen last week, as part of ongoing humanitarian efforts to clear contaminated areas and protect civilians from the dangers of war remnants.
In a statement issued by its media office, the project’s operations room said the removed materials included 1,065 unexploded ordnance items, 102 anti-tank mines, 34 anti-personnel mines, and 6 improvised explosive devices.
The statement added that field teams successfully cleared 312,264 square metres of land during the same period, continuing sustained demining operations in heavily affected areas.
In Midi district of Hajjah governorate, Masam recorded further progress, bringing the total items removed there since the start of operations to 10,622 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices, while the total cleared area reached 3,662,206 square metres.
The project also said it has removed a total of 572,332 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices since its launch in late June 2018 through 3 July 2026, underscoring the scale of the threat posed by war remnants across Yemen.
