Official and Societal Efforts Must Be Joined To Protect Cultural Heritage

The Member of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), Governor of Marib governorate Sultan al-Arada urged authorities and officials in charge of protecting antiquities and historical sites to redouble efforts and devote resources to preserve Yemen’s cultural heritage.

” Collective action is imperative to ensure preservation of the country’s cultural heritage. All efforts—official and societal—should be pooled to protect Yemen’s antiquities and historical places”, he asserted.

His remarks came during his meeting today, Sunday, here in Marib city, with the Minister of Culture and Tourism Mute’a Dammaj, the Chairman of the General Authority for Antiquities and Museums Dr. Ahmed Bataea, the Deputy Chairman of the General Authority for Preservation of the Historical Cities Dr. Ali Toaiman and the Executive Director of the Fund for Heritage and Cultural Development Walead Mahdi.

The meeting aimed to discuss the challenges faced by official authorities charged with protecting the cultural heritage and promoting tourist businesses.
