Saudi Arabia, France Affirm Support for Presidential Leadership Council, Protection of Maritime Freedom

Saudi Arabia and France have affirmed their support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the United Nations’ efforts to reach a comprehensive solution to the Yemeni crisis, stressing that provocative actions by the Houthi terrorist militia are exacerbating the humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni people.
In a joint statement issued at the conclusion of Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman’s visit to France and his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, the two sides renewed their condemnation of Houthi attacks on civilian infrastructure and vital facilities in Saudi Arabia, as well as their attacks on commercial shipping.
The two countries also affirmed their determination to safeguard freedom of maritime navigation, while France reiterated its full solidarity with and support for Saudi Arabia and rejected any attacks on its territory.
According to the statement, the Saudi Crown Prince and French President expressed a shared vision for establishing the foundations of stability in the Middle East based on safeguarding the sovereignty of states and respecting international law.
