Foreign Minister Stresses Importance of Disarming Armed Groups, Supporting State Institutions

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Afrah al-Zouba participated in a high-level ministerial dialogue at the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, addressing the challenges posed by non-state armed groups.

She highlighted the Houthi militia’s recent military escalation along Yemen’s western coast, its impact on civilians and displacement and threats to navigation in the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Red Sea.

The minister stressed the importance of disarming armed groups, including the Houthis, supporting legitimate state institutions, respecting Yemen’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and strengthening international efforts to address these threats.
