PLC Member Abdullah al-Alimi Briefs Senior Democrat on U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee on Houthi Terrorists Ongoing Military Escalation

The Member of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) Dr. Abdullah al-Alimi met today, Monday, with senior Democrat on the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee Gregory Meeks over Yemeni-American bilateral relations and cooperation.

The ongoing military escalation by Iran-allied terrorist Houthi militias was key focus of the talks.
Dr. Abdullah al-Alimi briefed Meeks on the political developments in Yemen and the ongoing escalation by the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militias.

He blamed the Iranian regime for arming the Houthi militias and enabling them with advanced military capabilities and technologies to destabilize the security of Yemen and the region as well as the security of the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandeb and international trade and navigation.

The PLC’s Member underscored the pressing need for continuing U.S. support for the Yemeni government and state institutions, boosting cooperation in combating terrorism and smuggling, cutting off funding and arms networks for militias, and supporting the capabilities of the Yemeni armed forces, security agencies and coast guard.
