Speaker of Shura Council Discusses with Acting U.S. Ambassador Ongoing Developments in Yemen

Speaker of the Shura Council Dr. Ahmed bin Dagher conferred today, Monday, with the Acting U.S. Ambassador to Yemen Neil Hopp over the political and military developments in Yemen, mainly the ongoing military escalation by Iran-allied terrorist Houthi militias.

Yemeni-American bilateral relations and cooperation were also touched upon.
Dr. bin Dagher highly appreciated the United States’ supportive stance in support of Yemen, underlining the need to boost partnership and coordination between the two countries to face security and political challenges, primarily the escalation by the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militia, warning of its repercussions on the security of Yemen and the region.

The Speaker of Shura Council called on the United States and the international community to support the Yemeni government and state institutions in protecting Yemeni lands, waters, and sea routes.

The American diplomat confirmed Washington’s support for the Yemeni government and peace efforts, stressing the importance of confronting the Iran-backed Houthi threats and protecting international navigation security.
