The Armed Forces liberated Dhubab District and strategic positions around the Bab al-Mandab Strait in western Taiz Governorate on Monday following clashes with Iran-backed Houthi militias.
A military source told September Net that the National Shield Forces and Giants Brigades, backed by popular resistance, launched a large-scale operation, supported by airstrikes, targeting Houthi militia’s positions and movements in several areas of the district. The operation enabled them to advance, seize key positions and cut off roads and supply lines leading to Bab al-Mandab.
The clashes left a number of Houthi fighters dead or wounded, while others fled under pressure from the military operation. Several military vehicles and pieces of equipment were also destroyed or disabled.
The forces are continuing clearance and security operations in the liberated areas and cutting Houthi supply routes.
The operations are being carried out in line with directives from His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, to launch the liberation campaign, complete the restoration of state institutions, end the Houthi coup, restore state territory and institutions, and extend national sovereignty.
